Opened in 1994 and developed by Sustrans, there are routes to suit mountain bikers as well as roadies. There are also choices of start and finish points and the route is fairly well signposted. For more info try Sustrans or MBRUK both of which can supply maps and guides. |

| Cumbria Cycle Way |

A circular tour which encompasses the whole of Cumbria and passes through our area. At 259 miles, mostly on quieter roads, it's one to take time over. There is a 150 mile off-road version too. Info from Cumbria Tourist Information offices and both the sites mentioned above. |

If you prefer somewhat shorter excursions, this book by Nick Cotton is widely available and features a range of shorter tours on- and off-road. |

Another way of doing the area on two wheels is through an organised cycling tour with Discovery Travel - they carry your bags and arrange accomodation to make the going easier. |
